My name is Ayla, and I’m the founder and owner of Miss Dysfunctional. If you want to know more about me, I’m a 21 year old bisexual, living in the Gold Coast in Australia, and I’m studying Fashion Design. I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2021 whilst I was living in London. I had seen a psychologist once a couple of years ago about some work-related anxiety, not realising that my issues went much deeper. I didn’t connect with this psychologist or find her suggestions useful, and therefore didn’t go back.

As silly as it sounds, when I got addicted to TikTok through the many UK lockdowns, I was noticing that more and more ADHD related videos were coming up on my for you page (damn algorithm). I realised I was relating to every single one, and decided to seek out another psychologist via Telehealth in Australia. I had been dealing with a lot of anxiety that I had realised wasn’t normal, and that I had been masking (even from myself) my entire life. It was a relief for these issues to be validated by the psychologist, and to know there was things I could do to address these issues. After many sessions of assessment, I was diagnosed with ADHD of the combined type and anxiety.

Once coming back to Australia, I saw a psychiatrist and was put onto medication for my ADHD. I’m still seeing my psychologist regularly, and deal with many mental health issues every day, but I can tell you that my diagnosis truly changed my life for the better. I’ve noticed that through trying to help myself function better in daily life, that there wasn’t one place that existed where I could find all of the practical tools, toys and gadgets I could use to optimise my ADHD, and decided to create it myself.

AND THUS, Miss Dysfunctional was born. I truly hope you enjoy what I’ve created. Big Love ❤
